It was a proud day on Monday for EVH staff and committee as Chair, Bill Kirkhope, handed over a cheque for £41340 to Grace Wilson from CHAS (Childrens Hospice Association Scotland).
EVH began fundraising for CHAS in 2003, their 25th anniversary year. They chose CHAS because, being a Scotland based organisation, they wanted the money raised to help a Scottish charity, which would benefit both rural and urban areas. Universal support from their member organisations was also very important.
Over the last 6 years money has been raised in a variety of ways including participation in sponsored walks, jogs, cycles, creation and sale of a video dedicated to EVH former chairperson Betty Stevenson MBE, prize draws at every event and conference they attend and an annual prize draw for member organisations (this year won by Bridgewater Housing Association who won almost £4000 of EVH services). This year for the first time EVH are also pledging £10 to charity for every member who renews their subscription before 31 January (if you haven't done so there's still a few days left!!). On 31 January an organisation will be chosen at random and the money in the 'pot' (potentially £1800) will be handed over to a charity of their choice.
